Music

Long time no type – let’s get straight to it!

Since moving to Atlanta last July I have seen a lot of live music. One of the great things about living in such a big city is all the music acts that pass through.  Except She and Him! As a side note, I am very displeased that Atlanta is not included on the She and Him 2013 North American tour. Color me disappointed Zooey and Matthew.

Nonetheless many a great musician passes through the city of Atlanta.

Back in September I went to Music Midtown with Mark and some friends to see Florence and the Machine!! also included Ludacris, Neon Trees, Girl Talk and Pearl Jam) in Peidmont Park.  I saw Metric in October at the Tabernacle with Half Moon Run as an opener with Skye.  I also saw Ellie at the Tabernacle too with Emily; her show was amazing.  Ellie is so sweet and genuine, she seemed so surprised that the crowd knew the lyrics to her first album, how could we not??  I saw Walk the Moon and Trombone Shorty at Terminal West at two separate events, again with Ms. Skye (doesn’t she have great taste in music?!).  Metric and Walk the Moon were fantastic dance parties; Walk the Moon is returning to Atlanta in October – a must see.

The Final Four of March Madness was held in Atlanta and they had a ton of free events, including free concerts – Mark and I went to see My Morning Jacket.  In May, Party in the Park was held in Atlanta’s Centennial Park featuring Ellie (as well as other groups but clearly she was superior) again.  Most recently, Mark and I saw the Postal Service at the Fox Theatre.  The show was incredible though slightly heart thumping and epileptic-inducing.

This is the most music in the shortest period of time I have ever seen but I have loved it and can’t wait to see more!
